Department of Lifelong Learning & Extension (DLLE)

The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension [DLLE] (known earlier as Department of Adult and Continuing Education and Extension) established on October 12, in the Year 1978 and has been recognized as a statutory Department of the University of Mumbai since 1994 to promote a meaningful and sustained rapport between the Universities and the community. The DLLE seeks to facilitate the sensitization of students to socio-cultural realities. Degree College Students take up extension work projects related to social issues, for which they are awarded 10 additional marks in their final examinations on successful completion of 120/240 hours of work, and the submission of the project report in time.

Laxmibai Sitaram Halbe College offers two projects of DLLE namely “Annapurna Yojna” and “Career Planning” to the students of B.A. and B.Com. programmes. Students who enroll for these extension work projects perform various activities for social awareness based on various issues/problems in the society such as Save Food, Save Water, SwachchhataAbhiyan, Voters’ Awareness Programme, Tree Plantation, Plastic Pick-up Drive, and many more. Students are creating awareness about these social problems through various activities like Rally, Street Play, Poster Making, Survey, Elocutions,etc.

Objectives of DLLE

  1. To provide career orientation and job orientation to the students
  2. To promote the aims and values of human development in society
  3. To provide platform and place for exchange of ideas, innovations and research to the students
  4. To provide opportunity to the students for development of marketable work skills
  5. To apply classroom knowledge for the benefit of society (classroom to community)
  6. To make the students aware of social problems in the community
